Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying, Department of Control Survey
Andreas Hellerschmied studied Advanced Geodesy and Geophysics and got his master’s degree from the Technische Universität Wien (TU Wien) in 2014. In the course of his Master’s program he spent several months at the Geodetic Observatory at Wettzell, Germany, to enable satellite tracking routines for VLBI radio antennas. Continuing his studies at TU Wien’s doctoral program he investigated the possibility to observe artificial Earth satellites with VLBI. At his position as university assistant in Johannes Böhm’s VLBI group at TU Wien he worked on VLBI data analysis routines and administrated the development of the VieVS package. In 2018 he earned his doctoral degree with the thesis titled “Satellite observations with VLBI”. Since 2018 he is employed at Austria’s Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying (BEV) in the Section Precise Leveling and Geophysics, while still working with VLBI data through his affiliation to the Vienna Center for VLBI.
