Climate change can impact Earth’s rotation speed through large-scale changes in zonal wind strength. We analyzed the future development of atmospheric angular momentum under five scenarios of differing greenhouse gas emission strengths and societal development. CMIP6 emission-intensive models project noteable positive trends in 21st century atmospheric angular momentum and equivalent length of day. Check it out!
