Gipson, NVI, Inc./GSFC =========================================================== PURPOSE AND GENERAL NOTES =========================================================== Observing link sources between GAIA and ICRF2. The Laboratory d'Astrophysique de Bordeaux (LAB) submitted a proposal to observe 195 transfer sources between ICRF2 and the GAIA mission. These 195 sources are divided into four categories. The forth category contains 24 sources that are not part of the IVS source monitoring program and that have a poor position accuracy. The primary goal of observing them in several R&D sessions is to improve their position accuracy. This session is very similar to RD1307. We use the 24 sources of the category 4 of the GAIA proposal in the astro mode of sked. We have one additional source which is a candidate geodetic source. The table below lists the number of observations for each source as a percentage of the total number of of observations scheduled. (The first two columns are the observation targets. This is followed by the % actually observed, and the number of observations and scans for each source.) All of the sources were scheduled in this session. This works the same way as the margin option in sked but applies only to 'astrometric' sources. The rationale for this option is that since these sources are not well observed we want to relax the SNR requirements on the chance that we might pick up some extra observations.
