IVS-R&D-06 / RD0506 2005 June 21-22 172/18:00 - 173/18:00 Haystack correlator expt #3103 Fourfit quality code summary: 97% 7-9 2% 1-6,A-H 0% 0 (non-detection) 1% no data Algonquin (G/Ap): High system temperatures due to warm receiver. Fringed X-band with manual phases because phase cal signal was so weak (due to high Tsys) that most X-band scans would be H codes with normal phase cal processing. Power spectra in all channels are distorted, with excess power at the low or high frequency end, sometimes exceeding the power at mid-band by a factor of 2. Gilcreek (A/Gc): Third disk in disk pack starting at 173-1559 failed during production processing. As a result, ~8% of scans are missing 1/8 of their data. Missed two scans due to having to reset Mark5A after disk changes. All baseband spectra are at least mildly distorted, with too much power at the low or high frequency end. Channels X6U and X8L are severely distorted in phase and power, with nulls around 11 MHz. X-band closure multiband delays drift, or are consistently biased, by tens of ps for station triangles involving baselines Gc-Kk and Gc-Ny, probably due to channel spectrum distortions (time-variable?). Kokee (K/Kk): Fringed with manual phases. Scheduled to start late at 172-1948 due to Intensive. Power and phase spectra for channels S2U, S3U, X1L, X2U, and X8U are severely distorted, with nulls at 5-6 MHz. Other channels have excess power at either the low or high frequency end. Ny Alesund (N/Ny): Three X-band scans are H codes due to unstable RF phase cal signal. Instability appears to have been caused by a bad 5 MHz phase cal cable, which was replaced after RD0507. Onsala (T/On): Missed three scans due to encoder amplifier problems. RFI in channel S1 in a few scans, but no G codes. Westford (E/Wf): ~1% of S-band scans are G codes due to RFI in channel S4. Spurious phase cal signals in several S-band channels at a level of -23 to -26 dBc. Wettzell (V/Wz): ~3% of S-band scans are G codes due to RFI in channel S4 from about 173-0800 to -0900. Scheduled to start late at 172-1948 due to Intensive. -20 dBc spurious phase cal signal in channel X2, and -24 dBc in channel X4.
