IVS-R&D-03 / RD0503 2005 March 30-31 089/18:00 - 090/18:00 Haystack correlator expt #3094 Fourfit quality code summary: 79% 7-9 4% 1-6,A-H 2% 0 (non-detection) 16% no data Algonquin (G/Ap): OK. Gilcreek (A/Gc): Weak fringes and phase cal in channel X1 - deleted in fringing. In ~35% of scans, sampling epoch in channels X5-X8 and S5-S6 was late by 1 sample interval (31 ns) relative to other channels and relative to non-slipped scans, apparently due to a formatter power supply problem. Affected scans were scattered throughout session. Bit slips caused singleband and multiband delays to shift by ~25 ns and ~100 ps at X, respectively. All Gc scans with bit slips were discarded from the exported data set. Total of 71 scans missed due to problems with Mark 4 formatter and pointing computer. Severe phase and amplitude spectral distortion in several baseband channels. Singleband delay jumped by 1 sample interval in all channels after scan 089-2303a. Between scans 090-0208 and 090-0212, baseband spectrum in channel X7 improved dramatically, and channel fringe phase shifted by ~20 deg relative to other channels. Effect on multiband delay is ~30 ps. Kokee (K/Kk): Fringed with manual phases. Scheduled to start late at 089-1954 due to Intensive. Ny Alesund (N/Ny): Snow in the dish. Onsala (T/On): Elevated system temperatures during first 2 hours of session as receiver was cooling down. Westford (E/Wf): Many short scans and scans with disappearing fringes due to crosstalk problem in Mark 5A cables at Gbps record rate. 14% of scans fail scan_check. Fringed S-band with manual phases due to presence of strong spurious signals in several channels. Fringe amplitude in channel S4 was consistently low by ~30% (when it wasn't being forced lower by RFI) due to a video converter filter problem causing loss of power around 10 MHz. ~2% of S band scans are G codes due to RFI in channel S4. Wettzell (V/Wz): Several short scans and scans with disappearing fringes due to crosstalk problem in Mark 5A cables at Gbps record rate. Scheduled to start late at 089-1954 due to Intensive. All stations recorded on Mark 5A. All scans with |delay rate| < 5e-8 were fringed with the first 2 seconds of data deleted, to avoid spurious fringes between transient, non-random signals generated by correlator station units at start of playback. $ Clocks: Haystack Station fmout-gps Used rate Comments [usec] [usec] [sec/sec] Ap 8.2 8.744 0.68e-12 Gc -7.3 -6.986 -0.24e-12 Kk -0.3 0.018 0.00e-12 Ny -15.5 -15.313 0.06e-12 On 27.4 27.428 0.97e-12 Wf 7.9 7.900 0.00 Reference Wz -15.1 -14.861 -0.03e-12 Date: 05/03/30 Processing factor = 2.00* Processed in three passes due to limited number of Mark 5 units available on the Haystack correlator.
