CORE-OHIG9 (Continuous Observations of the Rotation of the Earth and South terrestical reference frame network) 1999 Nov. 11 Notes prepared by Arno Mueskens Geodetic Institute of the University of Bonn, Germany Schedule name: cohig9.skd on CDDISA SUBNET Ft Hh Ho Kk Oh Sy Nominal Start: 20:00 U.T. on Nov. 11 (day 315) name yyddd-hhmmss Ft Hh Ho Kk Oh Sy 0104-408 99315-200001| 500 140 360 500| 1749+096 99315-200011| 140 250 | Duration: 24 hours Nominal Stop: 20:00 U.T. on Nov. 12 (day 316) name yyddd-hhmmss Ft Hh Ho Kk Oh Sy 1921-293 99316-194724| 150 90 150 | 1958-179 99316-195107| 440 170 440| 1351-018 99316-195649| 150 150 | CTA26 99316-195948| 210 210| Correlator: Bonn Purpose ======= The purpose of the CORE-OHIG (Southern Terrestrial Reference Frame) sessions is to tie together optimally the sites in the southern hemisphere. The participating sites include all the sites in the south - O'Higgins, Fortaleza, Hartebeesthoek, and Hobart - as well as Kokee Park. The last site is the southern-most of the northern sites and have been included to make the geometry more robust and to increase the number of observations per scan. Because these sessions concentrate on the southern sites and do not use observing time to accurately tie these sites to far northern sites (as the Global Sessions do) they should yield a very accurate regional TRF around the South Pole. Syowa (Japan/Antartika) are willing to participate in this experiment. The characteristics of this network have changed slightly due to more weigh of the southern part. Schedule ======== This is a new schedule generated with the automatic mode of sked using the variable scan length with a minimum of 70 seconds. The most recent and updated source flux models are included. SNR goals are 20(15) at X-band and 15(10) at S-band for all stations. Due to the uncertain participation of Syowa at this time this station was scheduled in the tag along mode. The predicted SNRs used include a 30 ps noise contribution added in quadrature, which is a typical size for the reweight constants size for the reweight constants required in SOLVE solutions. This schedule was optimized by different features: - the covariance analysis during schedule generation considers the previous 2 hours of observations, - minor SKED optimization parameters . maximum number of observations, were optimized over the best ( in a covariance sense ) 75% of the possible observations, this produces a somewhat more even sky distribution, - observations were weighted by their expected SNRs, - 30 ps noise contribution added, - mimimum time between observations of the same radio source was set to 20 min - use of CvgONLY in order to improve the geometry of observation This schedule was made using 60 sources which helped improve the sky coverage. Except of Syowa station who have to prepare K4 setup procedures with the existing skd file. NO PREPASS TIME: There is no time allowed in the schedule for prepassing tapes. Therefore all tapes needed for this experiment must be pre-checked before the start of this experiment. FREQUENCY SEQUENCE: The standard CDP-SX (2Mhz) frequency sequence is used for all CORE-OHIG experiments.
