CORE-1002 (Continuous Observations of the Rotation of the Earth-1002) 2000 August 21 Notes prepared by Cynthia Thomas and Nancy Vandenberg,NVI/GSFC Session code: C1002 Schedule file: aug00/c1002.skd on CDDISA Nominal Start: 17:30 U.T. on August 21 (day 234) first observation at 17:30 U.T. on 1958-179 for HH-HO-MA first observation at 17:30 U.T. on 1044+719 for AP-GC-TS Nominal Stop: 17:30 U.T. on August 22 (day 235) last observation at 17:06 U.T. on 1622-253 for MA last observation at 17:12 U.T. on 1124-186 for AP-HH last observation at 17:12 U.T. on 0235+164 for GC-HO-TS Correlator: Haystack Observing mode: Formatter mode C Frequency sequence CDP-WBCA (720 MHz span at X, 125 MHz span at S) (modified wide-band, shifted to avoid RFI at Matera) Number of frequencies 14 Number of channels 14 (8 X-band, 6 S-band) Channel bandwidth 2.0 MHz Sample rate 4 Mb/s Bits per sample 1 Total data rate 56 Mb/s Data rate on tape 4 Mb/s/track Fan-out none Tape speed 80 ips (high density), 135 ips (low density) Tracks per sub-pass 14 Number of sub-passes 2 (each head position) Passes per tape 12 Barrel roll no Track frame format Mark3 1 letter 2 letter Station Code Code # of tapes # of obs Occupation Code Algonquin G AP 2 (HDT) 247 72828201 Fairbanks A GC 1 (TT) 324 40476601 HartRAO J HH 1 (TT) 184 72326201 Hobart H HO 2 (HDT) 225 72425901 Matera I MA 1 (TT) 253 72435701 Tsukuba T TS 1 (TT) 387 73452301 Purpose ======= The CORE-1 sessions provide 72 hours of continuous data once a month from July to December, 2000. These sessions will help reach CORE's goal of continuous data. The CORE-1 sessions use the same stations that participated in the CORE-A sessions in the first half of 2000. The CORE-A sessions, recorded simultaneously with NEOS since 1997, have provided 85 sessions with the purpose of studying differences in EOP results measured with different networks. This study is still continuing using the data already obtained. Schedule ======== This schedule was made by C. Thomas using sked. Schedule setup parameters: Early start 20 sec Minimum scan length 70 sec Maximum scan length 600 sec Minimum SNR 20 at X-band 15 at S-band Automatic scheduling setup: optimize for uniform sky coverage at all stations, maximize the number of observations, minimize slewing time, minimize time between scans, consider the top 50% of ranked scans for selection, consider the last 3 hours of scans for sky coverage calculations, minimum 40 min between scans on the same source. The characteristics of the generated schedule are listed below. These will vary slightly for each schedule that is generated. Schedule characteristics: Average scan length 108 sec Average SNR 62.5 at X-band, 50.8 at S-band Number of observations (delay measurements) 1346 obs Average number of scans per station 270 scans Flux Information ================ Program snranal compares the measured performance of a session with respect to the predicted. The program calculates an empirical flux density for each source. In order to account for changes in the flux catalog since the last update based on source modeling, the fluxes in the flux catalog for the sources in the current source catalog were adjused using the following databases: Date Session ==== ========= 00FEB01 NEOS-A353 00FEB08 NEOS-A354 00FEB08 CORE-A081 00FEB22 NEOS-A356 00FEB29 NEOS-A357 00MAR14 NEOS-A359 00MAR21 NEOS-A360 00MAR28 NEOS-A361 00APR04 NEOS-A362 00APR11 NEOS-A363 Procedures ========== Please generate the procedures for this session using drudg.
